SEO basics: how local customers find your website on Google.
What every FirstGen site already does for search, and the few things you can do that help most.
What every site already has
A page title with your business name, what you do and your city, and a short description for search results.
Your name, address and phone number in plain text, the way Google reads them.
A fast, mobile-first layout and HTTPS on every page.
Real reviews from your Google Business Profile.
Search engines are told to list your site once you keep it, not while it's a preview.
Your dashboard shows your Google Search Console data: the searches people used to find you.
No one can promise a ranking, and we don't. What follows is the work that helps most for a local business.
Your Google Business Profile
Claim and verify your profile at business.google.com if you haven't.
Pick the primary category that matches your main service, and add the others as secondary categories.
Fill in hours, service areas, services and a short description, and keep them current.
Add your site's address (your own domain, once connected) as your website.
Add real photos of your work, your team and your trucks every few weeks.
Reviews
Ask happy customers for a Google review right after the job, with a direct link. Reply to every review, good or bad, briefly and politely. Never buy reviews or offer something in exchange for one; Google can remove them.
Keep your name, address and phone the same everywhere
Search engines compare your business details across the web. Use the exact same name, address and phone number on your site, your Google profile, Facebook, Yelp, and any directory you're listed in. If one changes, change it everywhere, starting with your site (tell the chat) and your Google profile.
