What firstgen.dev, the app and the sites we host store in your browser, and what other companies' tools on them store.
What cookies are
This policy is from Nexus Media LLC dba FirstGen. It goes with the Privacy Policy (firstgen.dev/legal/privacy). A cookie is a small file a website saves in your browser so it can recognize you on the next page or the next visit. Similar storage (local storage, session storage) works the same way and is covered here too.
Cookies on firstgen.dev
fg_visitor: FirstGen (first-party). What it holds: A first name, business name, trade, city and website address, if a link from one of our emails carried them. Nothing else. How long: Until you close your browser (a session cookie).
Analytics: None. What it holds: We don't run analytics or advertising tools on the marketing site. How long: Not applicable.
The fg_visitor cookie exists so the pages you open after a personalized link keep greeting you by name without a flash of generic text. It's set and read only by our own server. It's never sent to another company, and it's re-checked every time it's read so a changed cookie can't put anything odd on the page.
There are no advertising cookies on the marketing site. We don't run Facebook, Google or any other advertising pixel on it, and we don't retarget visitors.
Cookies in the app at app.firstgen.dev
Sign-in. Cookies from our sign-in provider (Supabase) keep you signed in to the dashboard. They hold a signed token, not a password, and end when you sign out or the session expires.
Activity. Our first-party tracker keeps a random session id in session storage, and the token from the email link you arrived on in local storage, so the pages you visit are counted as one visit. Neither is shared with another company.
Checkout. Checkout happens on Stripe's own page, which sets the cookies it needs to process the payment and prevent fraud, under Stripe's policy.
On the sites we host
Visit counter. Preview sites at firstgen.site set a first-party cookie named fg_seen so a visit is counted once. It holds no personal information and lasts up to a year.
Activity. The same first-party tracker as the app keeps a random session id in session storage and, for previews opened from our email, the link's token in local storage.
Microsoft Clarity. On preview sites, and only when it's switched on, Clarity sets its own cookies to record how the page is used, with typed text masked, under Microsoft's policy. Live customer sites don't load it.
Your choices
You can block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. firstgen.dev works without cookies: you'd lose the personalized greeting and nothing else. The dashboard needs its sign-in cookies to work, and checkout needs Stripe's. Hosted sites work without any of theirs.
We don't respond to browser Do Not Track signals, since we don't track you across other sites. We honor Global Privacy Control signals by treating them as an opt-out of any sale or sharing, which we don't do anyway.
Changes
If we add a cookie or an analytics tool, we'll update this page and the date at the top before it goes live.
