What's new in FirstGen.

Dashboard visit counts.

Email programs and security tools often open links automatically before a person ever sees them. Those automatic clicks used to show up as visits in your dashboard. Now your numbers only count real people looking at your site.

Added

  • Link scanners and email security bots are left out of your visit counts

  • Bot clicks are left out of the clicks on your links and buttons

  • Automatic checks no longer show up as someone starting your checkout

  • A cleaner daily visit chart in your dashboard

Improved

  • Visit counts in your dashboard match real people much more closely

  • Fewer surprise spikes on days when nobody actually visited your site

  • Your visit numbers are easier to compare from one week to the next

Fixed

  • Unclear wording on a few of the dashboard settings, which now use plain English

  • Settings labels that didn't say clearly what they change

The FirstGen sign-in page.

Signing in to your dashboard no longer needs a password. Enter the email you checked out with and we send you a 6-digit code and a sign-in link. Either one works.

Added

  • A 6-digit code in every sign-in email, right next to the usual sign-in link

  • Type the code right on the sign-in page, on any phone or computer

  • A countdown that shows when you can ask for a new code

  • No password to remember or reset

  • Sign-in links that now always finish signing you in properly

Improved

  • Sign-in emails arrive faster and land in the inbox more reliably

  • You land straight on your dashboard as soon as you've signed in

  • If you followed a link to a page, you go back to that page

A preview site at its own address.

Your free preview now lives at its own web address with the padlock (SSL) from the very first visit, so it looks and works exactly like your finished site will.

Added

  • Its own web address for every free preview we build for you

  • SSL on every preview, set up automatically from the very first visit

  • Previews built on demand when you ask

  • Preview addresses that now always get a certificate

Improved

  • Cleaner business details pulled straight from your Google listing

  • A shorter, tidier preview address that's easy to share by text

  • Your preview looks and works exactly like your finished site will

The dashboard with the chat editor.

Keeping your site is now one step. Press "Make it live" on your preview, pay $197 on Stripe's secure checkout, and you land in your dashboard with your site live the same day.

Added

  • "Make it live" checkout on every free preview

  • Payment through Stripe's secure checkout page, at $197 a month

  • Your dashboard at app.firstgen.dev, made the moment you pay

  • A Billing tab for your card and invoices

  • A chat to change your site in plain words: hours, services, phone, wording

Improved

  • Each change you make in the chat shows on your live site right away, with no waiting on anyone

  • Your site works on your own domain as well as at its first preview address

  • Accounts are now always linked to their site right after checkout

The Help tab in the dashboard.

Getting help is now built right into your dashboard, and every one of our policies is written in plain English, so you always know exactly where you stand with FirstGen, from your first free preview to your last bill.

Added

  • A Help tab in your dashboard for any question you have

  • A "Build mine" button to ask for your free preview

  • Terms, privacy, refund and other policies at firstgen.dev/legal, in plain words

  • Messages you send from the Help tab go straight to our support inbox, by email

Improved

  • Replies from support@firstgen.dev within one business day, by email to the address you use

  • One clear refund rule: 30 days, no questions asked; taking it pauses your site

  • Policies written in the same plain words as the rest of the site

Fixed

  • Signing in with an email that has no site yet now tells you exactly what to do next, and how to ask for a free preview

  • Unclear wording about refunds in older pages, now one clear rule

See your website before you pay for it.
